First Impressions of Wicked Ridge Fury 410

We're still getting excited about the new Wicked Ridge and TenPoint crossbow models. Every year they don't disappoint. We've already had the chance to test the Nitro 505 and a couple of other crossbows, now it's time for the Wicked Ridge Fury 410.

Wicked Ridge is TenPoint's budget crossbow brand and usually, you're able to get TenPoint tech at a much cheaper rate. This year, Wicked Ridge went all out and equipped the Fury 410 with the latest and best technology that's also featured on TenPoint models this year, while still keeping it affordable.

The Fury 410 is equipped with a RangeMaster Pro Variable Speed Scope, ACUdraw De-cock, 3-Arrow Quiver, and comes with three Match 400 Carbon Arrows. It is the best crossbow for the money that you will need for deer hunting, elk hunting, bear hunting, moose hunting, turkey hunting, hog hunting, etc.

Design and Durability

The Wicked Ridge Fury 410 is a reverse draw crossbow that's speed-rated at 410 feet per second by Wicked Ridge. This crossbow has a length of just over 29 inches. Which is pretty short for a crossbow.

A small downside of a reverse draw crossbow is the width but a huge plus of a reverse draw crossbow is the weight distribution. Reverse draw crossbows are usually better balanced than normal compound crossbows. It's still a pretty compact crossbow with an axle-to-axle width of 15 inches uncocked and 9 inches cocked.

The Wicked Ridge Fury 410 is a crossbow that has been built for those that want to hunt with a crossbow. With a weight of 7.5 pounds without accessories, and just over 9 pounds fully installed, it is not the lightest bow available but it is definitely not the heaviest either.

The Wicked Ridge Fury 410 crossbow has a 15.5-inch power stroke and has a draw weight of 200 pounds to make it as accurate and powerful as possible. And you can find that this is the best crossbow for beginners.

RangeMaster Pro Scope

Take your shooting to the next level with this highly advanced and state-of-the-art scope for crossbows! The RangeMaster Pro Scope is designed to be versatile and easy to use, making it a perfect choice for hunting as well as target practice. With an aluminum construction and a variable speed setting, you'll be able to shoot with precision and accuracy like never before.

As mentioned before, the Fury 410 is an upgrade from the RDX 400. The "basic" version of the RDX 400 featured TenPoint's 3x Multi-Line scope, but it was also available with the RangeMaster Pro scope. Unfortunately, we only reviewed the RDX 400 with the 3x Multi-Line scope. We did review the RangeMaster Pro scope on other TenPoint models and were extremely pleased with the accuracy and user-friendliness.

Thanks to the RangeMaster Pro Scope, you can shoot very quickly at various distances. Wicked Ridge pre-tunes the scope before they leave the factory. The scope has red or green illumination and has markings for the 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60-yard distances. With adjustable arrow speed!

The RangeMaster Pro scope has three duplex crosshairs and four dots calibrated for 20-, 30-, 40- and 50-yards, and a triangle for 60-yards. It also features a variable speed and arrow drop compensation setting. You see it is the best crossbow for target shooting, home defense, survival, bowfishing, etc.

ACUdraw Cocking And De-Cocking

The ACUdraw de-cock is TenPoint's (and Wicked Ridge's) latest and best safe and silent cocking and de-cocking device. Without the need of pulling levers or switches, you'll be able to crank cock the Wicked Ridge Fury 410 with just 5 pounds of force. Thanks to their revolutionary technology, you'll be able to stop with cocking anytime and reverse anytime.

If you're unable to take a shot, you can simply press the de-cock button and safely de-cock the Fury 410 crossbow. Again, you can let go of the handle whenever you want and the handle will stay in its place, completely eliminating the possibility of injury or damage you'd have with other cocking systems. You will like this guy because it is the best budget crossbow for hunting big game or small game.

Performance

We'd like to discuss a couple of things first before we go over to our range test.

First, the Fury 410 features the new "Alpha Nocks HP" with a collar that TenPoint claims is 700 times stronger than their previous nock systems. These upgraded nocks have a deeper bowstring groove for improved accuracy and a large smooth radius base to minimize string wear.

Second, Wicked Ridge (and TenPoint) like to advertise a speed with an arrow that's usually about 30-grains less heavy than the arrows they deliver the crossbow with. While the package includes a 400-grain arrow, the Fury 410 has been speed-rated with a 370-grain arrow. We also highly recommend hunting with an arrow that's at least 400-grains. So, you need to buy the best crossbow arrows for hunting.

They do mention it in their detailed specs, but not everybody notices it until they get their crossbow. These are the arrows that Wicked Ridge recommends with their respected speeds and our chronograph results:

Arrow Weight Speed Chronograph speed
Pro Lite Carbon Arrow 370-grains 410 FPS 413 FPS
Wicked Ridge Match 400 Carbon Arrow 400-grains 400 FPS 404 FPS

Wicked Ridge offers the Fury 410 with three Match 400 carbon arrows, so if you'd like to get the 410 feet per second, you'd have to buy these arrows separately. We still had a dozen of the Pro Light carbon arrows from previous reviews and were able to easily get the 410 feet per second!

Cocking the Fury 410 with the ACUdraw de-cock is very smooth and easy to do. The included instructions should be clear enough, if you're unable to figure it out, then take a look at TenPoint's simple explanation video on YouTube.

The de-cocking feature is also very handy. This completely removes the need for discharge/de-cock arrows or bringing a portable target bag on your hunting trip.

After making sure the RangeMaster Pro scope is correctly sighted in, we set our target out at 60-yards. This is the maximum yardage point on this scope and we're sure it's going to be very accurate. We're actually a little disappointed that the Fury 410 doesn't feature a scope with a 100-yard distance as this crossbow should be able to handle it quite easily.

We've gotten extremely tight groups at 60-yard distances with the Wicked Ridge Fury 410. This crossbow has a lot of potential for those who seek maximum performance from a crossbow. While it may not be the fastest crossbow on the market, it will definitely out-perform many of its competitors when it comes to hunting. The Fury 410 is easy to use and can easily be used for different types of hunting. Also, it is the best crossbow for women, youth, and elderly hunters.

Recommended Accessories

Arrows & Broadheads

Wicked Ridge includes three Match 400 Carbon arrows with the Fury 410 hunting package. These arrows have a 400-grain weight and are able to reach speeds of just over 400 feet per second. They're also perfect for hunting.

If you want to reach the same speeds as advertised, you have to buy a set of 370-grain arrows. Wicked Ridge speed-rated the Fury 410 with the TenPoint Pro Lite 370-grain carbon arrows. Unfortunately, the Pro Lite carbon arrows are all sold out and we're not able to find them anywhere.

With the release of a new line of crossbows, Wicked Ridge also released a new set of mechanical and fixed-blade broadheads. We haven't received the broadheads yet, so we were unable to test them ourselves. For a list of broadhead recommendations, you can check our broadheads reviewed article. We'll soon be testing a whole new range of broadheads, so be sure to check back!

Storage and Transportation

If you want to make sure that your brand new Wicked Ridge Fury 410 is stored and transported safely, a good crossbow case is crucial. While you should be able to easily find a case that fits this crossbow, Wicked Ridge also announced their new "Ambush Bowpack" and should be the perfect fit for the Fury 410. Unfortunately, the new Ambus Bowpack is available from February in 2024.

We stored our Fury 410 in the Wicked Ridge soft crossbow case that we still had lying around from a previous Wicked Ridge crossbow.

Summary

In summary, the Wicked Ridge Fury 410 is a great crossbow with an affordable price tag, especially considering its speed. It's a good fit for target shooting as well as hunting and will serve as a great training tool for young hunters. The only thing that might scare away some experienced hunters is the limited scope range. We give it a 4.4 out of 5 stars.
